On 08 March 2018, the Minister of MARD issued Decision No.823/QĐ-BNN-TCCB approving the establishment of State Steering Committee office for the Target Program on Sustainable Forest Development for 2016-2020 and REDD+ implementation by merging State Steering Committee office for Forest protection and development plan for 2011-2020 and Vietnam REDD+ Office.

Forest governance processes in Lam Dong Province of Viet Nam have got new impetus since the introduction of the Participatory Governance Assessment (PGA), an innovative tool introduced by the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme and enthusiastically adopted by the Provincial Authority. PGA opens a platform for local women, men, ethnic minorities and other stakeholders to significantly influence the processes that have an impact on their livelihood.
To strengthen the coordination in forest management and protection in adjacent areas and the handling of inter-provincial illegal transportation and trafficking of forest products, on March 27, in Bac Kan city, the Program Management Unit of UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Program in Bac Kan province in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Forest Protection Department of Bac Kan, Lang Son and Thai Nguyen provinces organized the Conference on Formulation and Signing the forest management and protection regulation for adjacent areas
To celebrate the International Day of Forests this year, 21st March 2017, at the Primary School of Quan Binh Commune, Bach Thong District, the UN-REDD Programme Management Board in Bac Kan province, in cooperation with Bac Kan provincial Youth Union and the People's Committee of Quan Binh Commune, organized a meeting and launched the planting ceremony.
