June 2014: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation (UN-REDD), after five years of support for REDD+ readiness, has reviewed the evolution of the REDD+ landscape. The review focuses, in particular, on the five thematic areas of UN-REDD: measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), governance, stakeholder engagement, safeguards and multiple benefits, and the green economy.
On 9 May 2014, a dialogue between representatives of Vietnamese ethnic minorities (EM) and the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme was held successfully in the capital city of Hanoi. Mrs Luong Thi Truong, EM representative to the Programme Executive Board (PEB) of UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II, chaired the meeting.
In three days (20 – 22/5/2014), a Norwegian delegation headed by Ms. Hanne Inger Bjustrom, Special Envoy on Climate, Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment , had an official visit to Viet Nam to discuss the realization of the Joint Declaration on REDD+ between two countries with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
On 28 March 2014, Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) and Center for Sustainable Development in Mountainous Areas (CSDM) co-hosted the workshop on nominating civil society organizations (CSO) and ethnic minorities (EM) representatives for Programme Executive Board (PEB) of UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme.
On 26th March 2014, the project “Support for the REDD+ readiness preparation in Viet Nam” funded by the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF)/World Bank held a workshop on 2014 workplan implementation and financial management for three pilot provinces, namely Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Dak Nong and stakeholders.
On 25th March 2014, the project “Support for the REDD+ readiness preparation in Viet Nam” funded by the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF)/World Bank organized the Project Executive Board meeting to evaluate the results of 2013 workplan implementation, reinforce the 2014 workplan and direct the strategic guideines for the project implementation in the coming time.

On 21 March 2014, Bac Kan Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in cooperation with the Programme Management Unit of UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II organised the Kick-off workshop of the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme in the province.
The Programme Management Unit (PMU) of the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme and Binh Thuan Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development co-hosted the provincial Kick-off workshop of the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme in Phan Thiet City on March 7, 2014.
On 17.2.2014, the Programme Management Unit (PMU) of UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II cooperated with Binh Thuan Province's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) to organize a workshop on raising awareness on climate change and REDD+ for stakeholders at provincial and district level in the province.
