The Prime Minister has approved the “Readiness Preparation for the implementation of REDD+ in Viet Nam” funded by the World Bank according to the document No. 1371/TTg-QHQT dated September 12th 2012.

On October 4th, 2012, VNFOREST held a closing workshop in Ha Noi to celebrate a successful ending UN-REDD Vietnam Programme (Phase 1). The workshop was chaired by Mr. Ha Cong Tuan – Vice Minister of MARD, Mrs. Pratibha Mahta - UN Resident Coordinator, and H.E Stale Torstein Risa – Ambassador of Norwegian.
(NFMS) and Reference Levels (RELs) for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) were the focus of a workshop hosted today in Ha Noi by the UN-REDD Programme in collaboration with the Viet Nam Administration of Forestry (VNFOREST).

In order to optimize the approach and effectiveness of the UN-REDD Programme, the three participating UN organizations embarked on the preparation of a Programme Strategy covering the period 2011-2015. This five-year strategy was adopted by the three UN-REDD Programme agencies and endorsed by the UN-REDD Programme’s Policy Board. The Strategy is a living document that will be adjusted as appropriate in response to the development of the REDD+ mechanism.
SNV’s Multiple Benefits REDD project, in collaboration with UNEP-WCMC, has conducted an initial spatial analysis to explore biodiversity benefits and risks from REDD+ in Vietnam.
On 25 October, 2016, in Bac Kan city, Bac Kan PPMU has organized an information sharing workshop on REDD+ implementation for communication network and commune REDD+ committees implemented SiRAP in Bac Kan.
The UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme in cooperation with MB-REDD/SNV Project organised a training on facilitation skill for relevant staff who are responsible for supporting pilot provinces of the Programme in developing its provincial REDD+ action plans (PRAP).
Since December 2014, the Binh Thuan Programme Management Board of the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme (PPMU Binh Thuan) has put more efforts on communicating and raising awareness of REDD+ to relevant stakeholders at provincial, district and commune levels. The efforts is the first step to preprare for the development of its Provincial REDD+ Action Plan (PRAP) and Commune REDD+ Action Plan (CRAP) in early 2015.
World Environment Day (WED) is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. WED activities take place all year round but climax on June 5 every year.
A contest learning about relation between forest, climate change and desertification under the subject “Forest in the context of climate change and desertification”.
The Policy Board meeting was attended by 122 participants from 24 countries, including representatives from the Programme’s partner countries, Indigenous Peoples representatives and civil society organizations. The meeting was held at the Saigon Da Lat Hotel, in Da Lat, Viet Nam.
The purpose of this contest is to select an album for “Forest of Viet Nam” exhibition in November 2011 in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Viet Nam Directorate of Forestry/Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is proceeding stakeholder consultation process for the UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Proposal.
