The aim of the Guidelines is to outline a normative, policy and operational framework for UN-REDD Programme partner countries to seek FPIC, as and when appropriate, as determined by the Programme partner country in consultation with relevant rights-holders.
UN-REDD Programme Viet Nam is now developing two reports, the evaluation report for effectiveness of awareness raising and training, and lesson learned report from activities in particular areas such as Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), Benefits Distribution System (BDS) consultations.

At its recent meeting in Paraguay, the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board approved US$8 million in critical funding for REDD+ in Republic of Congo and Sri Lanka, and endorsed the Programme's Social and Environmental Principles and Criteria.
During Viet Nam's recent Participatory Governance (PGA) workshop, the UN-REDD Programme participated in discussions aimed at making forest governance concepts and terminology more understandable to forest-dependent communities.

The workshop mainly delivered instructions and experience of using the software, ALU version, in GHGI and land use.

On 7 July, Forest Protection Departments of Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Quang Binh provinces signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in forest protection. Three provinces also agreed to enhance information and experience sharing as well as close cooperation in forest protection, fore fire fighting and prevention.
On 25 July, Lam Dong province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II Programme co-hosted a workshop on raising awareness of relevant stakeholders at district and commune levels on forest management and protection, climate change and REDD+.

June 2014: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation (UN-REDD), after five years of support for REDD+ readiness, has reviewed the evolution of the REDD+ landscape. The review focuses, in particular, on the five thematic areas of UN-REDD: measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), governance, stakeholder engagement, safeguards and multiple benefits, and the green economy.
