To access the activities of UN-REDD+ programme Vietnam phase II implementing in Lao Cai province, 4th
July 2016, Mr Eirik Brun Sorlie – Counsellor of Royal Norwegian Embassy has visited and worked with Lao Cai Agriculture and Rural development Department and Lao Cai UN-REDD+ programme management unit (Lao Cai PPMU).
After the discussion with Lao Cai PPMU and received several information about UN-REDD+ programme’s activities in Lao Cai province; the Counsellor has had the field trip to Ban Cam commune – the pilot commune implementing SiRAP. The working contents included: Site based REDD+ Action Plan (SiRAP) establishment process, SiRAP implementation after the approval; the communication programs in the commune; The difficulties and local people’s expectation participating in UN-REDD+ Programme. The Counsellor also met Nam Chu village’s people and visited several livelihood demonstration models that were supported by UN-REDD+ Programme.
Mr Eirik appreciated the efforts of Lao Cai in forest protection and development as well as implementation of UN-REDD+ Programme. He also appreciated Lao Cai province in term of supporting his journey.
