On 26/7/2016, PMU of UN-REDD+ Phase II program in Bac Kan province cooperated with the Youth Union of Ba Be District to organize training to raise awareness on REDD+, climate change associated with livelihoods for more than 50 members of Youth Union in communes and Ba Be District.
Participants were introduced and discussed REDD+, climate change, and the relationship of Forest - Human - Climate change by officers of Bac Kan PPMU. Besides, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong - Officer of the Provincial Cultivation and Plant Protection Department had lectured and practiced the techniques of planting and care for seedless persimmons, early ripening plum.
At the end of the training, Ms. Ma Thi Man - Secretary of Youth Union in Ba Be District had highly appriciated the cooperation of the Program and District Youth Union. This training is an excellent opportunity for members of District Youth Union to understand deeply the drivers and impacts of climate change as well as the roles of forest in daily lives, which will contribute to change the behaviours, actively participate in forest protection and management in the locality. Moreover, the trained knowledge in fruit trees growing techniques will help participants in implementing the farm, garden models associated with forest protection to improve the household and local economy.
