Workshop on R-coefficients for REDD+ Benefit Distribution

The objective of the workshop is to inform REDD+ activities and application of R coefficient for benefit distribution of REDD+ in Vietnam.

On April 27 th, 2012, in Hanoi VN-FOREST held the Workshop on R –coefficients for REDD+ Benefit Distribution. Chaired by Madam Pham Minh Thoa, Director of Department of Scientific, Technology and International Cooperation,  VNFOREST the workshop attracted 60 participants came from VNFOREST targeted UN- REDD+ phase II provinces (Bac Kan, Ca Mau, Binh Thuan, Ha Tinh, Lam Dong), and members of the Technical Working Group on BDS as well as representatives of NGOs. The objective of the workshop is to inform REDD+ activities and application of R coefficients for benefit distribution of REDD+ in Vietnam.

There were 4 presentations presented includes: (1) An overview of Vietnamese legal framework and social – economic conditions support to REDD+ activities In Vietnam. (2) The key international principals related to Benefit Distribution System (BDS). (3) R –coefficients for Benefit received form REDD+ activities. (4) Proposal on application of R coefficient at local level.

In the afternoon the participants were divided in to 3 group to brainstorm on three key issues as follows:

(1) The difficulties that may arise when applying the on R –coefficients at local levels (province, district, commune level)

(2) The solutions that support to improve the efficient practice of R coefficients in the Vietnam’s context.

(3) Some further activities on the next meeting.

After full day attending, the participants have improved their knowledge on the REDD+ mechanism, BDS, and the importance role of R coefficients on BDS. There were also a lot of good ideas that can contribute to solve the challenges of application R coefficients on BDS at local levels. Documents: Click here
